Winnifred de Moes is not only Vice-President of ESCIF but since 26 April she is also a Knight of the Order of Oranje Nassau! She was granted this highly-esteemed Dutch royal honour because of her many years of voluntary work in The Netherlands.

After Winnifred had resigned as a board member and President of the Dutch SCI Association - her statutory term was over - at the end of 2012, the remaining board members of the association nominated Winnifred for a royal decoration. In addition to her long and important work for the Dutch SCI Association, including 2002-2012 as its President, Winnifred has been very active since 1985 - also as a board member - in her hometown for Flevostar, the (dis)abled sports club in Almere.

On 26 April during the annual Dutch 'royal decoration day' Winnifred was completely surprised. She was expected at City Hall and - with her family and many friends present (who all kept the secret) – where the Mayor of Almere, on behalf of the Dutch Queen, pinned on the royal decoration and Winnifred became a Knight of the Order of Oranje Nassau (Oranje Nassau is the name of the Dutch royal family).

Winnifred’s colleagues in ESCIF congratulate Dame Winnifred on this great recognition of her work and commitment!
